Finally! you’ve decided a “Healthy Weight Loss In 2021.Congratulations!
You’re sick and tired of being sick and tired and you are determined to shed some of those extra pounds that are weighing you down. Right on!
I have lost 15 pounds! But, it’s not easy. If it were easy, everyone would be slim and trim and the diet industry would be out of business. It’s difficult and the easiest thing would be to just have another slice of cheesecake and kick back and relax.
But for the same reason that I quit smoking a good number of years ago, I want to lose more weight. That reason? I just feel lousy all the time. I gave up smoking and I can give up being overweight. It wasn’t easy to do the former and it won’t be easy to do the latter. But it can be done.
Here are some steps that are going to help you get started with the “Healthy Weight Loss In 2021” process.
Healthy Weight Loss In 2021
1. Where You Stand:
Get an accurate picture of where you are right now, even if you have already started.
A lot of people get started on a diet or weight loss program without keeping track of where they started from. This can be a mistake because along the way there will be a number of times where you will be tempted to simply quit altogether.
You want to be able to gauge your progress, so you have to know where you started. Being able to see your progress can keep you on track down the road when the going gets tough.
2. Setting The Goals:
You have to know WHERE you are going, so set specific, realistic goals for your weight loss, and “WRITE THEM DOWN” to the minute detail.
This is one of the most important steps and many people don’t bother doing it. And think “I’ll do it in my head”.
No! WRITE YOUR GOALS DOWN! Be specific. Most people will come up with some rather non-specific thoughts such as:
- I need to lose 30 lbs.
- If I can just fit back into a pair of jeans I had 5 years or 10 years back and is still in my closet waiting for me to get slim, I’ll be happy.
- I will be trying to get back to a size when I was this many years old.
That is not the right way to go about your weight loss program. All these statements are hopes, wishes, or desires, that will remain as such until and unless you start ahead with the weight loss process.
What you need are specific, detailed, and definite goals that are written down and have a specific ending time (e.g. “over the next 3, 6 or 12 months”) The reason for being specific is to hold yourself accountable.
For example, you will do such and such by a certain date.
Most people think of weight loss as a very hard thing to do and it certainly can be. But if you think of weight loss as fun and rewarding, then you are on the right path to success!
3. Layout a step-by-step plan of attack to achieve your goals:
To achieve your goal of a healthy weight loss process and being in better shape, you need to have a concrete plan of action.
You need to choose a weight loss plan of what to eat and when to eat and how much to eat. You need to decide when and how to exercise. When you have a plan and it is written down in a logical, methodical manner, you have a much better chance of achieving your success.
4. Do It Now:
Don’t wait for any reason. Get started IMMEDIATELY. Most unsuccessful people know how to be successful. What separates those who are successful (or in this case, slimmer) and those who are not, is the desire for action.
Don’t let that happen for one more minute. Take action NOW! The sooner you start with the weight loss plan and the weight loss diet plan the sooner you’ll reach your goal of a healthy weight loss when it all ends.
5. Prepare for good times and not so good times:
If you are like me, you have tried to lose weight and failed. I have had some good success and I feel better for my hard work.
But as I pointed out earlier, I successfully quit smoking. I tried a lot of times prior to successfully quitting. Once I finally made the decision and laid out my goals and had a plan of attack, I made it happen. But, it wasn’t easy.
The same is the case with losing weight and won’t be easy. You have to be able to do it, whether the storms or difficult times. You need to be strong and determined. You will succeed if you stick to your plan. Don’t let anyone or anything dissuade you.
It’s your body and it’s your life. Take control. Once you reach your goal, your sense of accomplishment will be worth every moment of pain and suffering. Keep the goal in sight.
6. Be Vigilant:
Once you’ve reached your goals, be vigilant. I have learned this lesson from quitting smoking and from past attempts to lose weight. There are temptations galore in this world we live in. With smoking, in my case, and in most cases, you cannot and must not ever have another cigarette again.
You can’t really do that with food, can you? But when those temptations to overeat are there, you must be strong. Occasionally having some junk food, or an extra helping is not going to torpedo your plan but you have to be careful and always keep your goal in mind.
That is, staying slim and not having to go through the battle again. You have to be flexible and not punish yourself.
There we go. Remember, we’re all in this together. I am not a doctor, so don’t follow my word(s) or suggestions without talking to your doctor first. Be sensible and always consult your doctor or physical trainer before attempting exercise or diet changes.
